Naomi Gerrard

Art is a search for the visual voice, the light, the spirit, the sounds or the tensions of the moment. I search for a way to make a social statement, a way to challenge the viewer through my art. In the collection of Our Prairie scenes I chose the powerful impact of tiny grains to compose mosaics of rich imagination and symbolism of our prairie life. My wish is to encourage the viewer to reflect on our dependence and respect for these tiny grains of energy. I hope to make the symbolic connection from the health of our prairie agriculture to the health of society, through the individual beauty of each type of grain combined together to form the mosaics.
